May 3, 2013 – Wentworth student body and staff enjoyed a day touring and learning more about their new school.  On April 26, the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders and their teachers were given a unique opportunity to see first-hand what is happening at the construction site.  They toured the site – discovering where their future classrooms would be, they learned about the geothermal wells and how they operate, they viewed a 3-D Blue Printmodel of the school, got an in-depth look at the plans, and they learned how some of the heavy construction machinery operates and functions on the site.  Staff and students alike were very impressed with the presentations and are anxious to occupy their new space.
A special thanks to Todd Jepson, Dan Cecil, Tony Roy, Paul Koziell and Phil LaClaire for making this a special day for the Wentworth students.

The Scarborough School Department is pleased to announce that they will be working with Gawron Turgeon Architects, a Scarborough based company, on the selection of furnishings and moveable equipment for the new school.  Gawron Turgeon Architects will provide professional interior design services for furniture and moveable equipment selection, specification, and will oversee installation for the new intermediate school.

March 21, 2013 –
The School Board voted unanimously to shorten the name of the new school to Wentworth School.  Any plaques and items that reference Benjamin F. Wentworth will be carried over into the new school and displayed appropriately.

November 5, 2012 - Neighborhood Meeting - Members of the Building Committee and the Steering Committee met with neighbors of the new school to discuss their concerns.  Most of the concerns were regarding the proximity of the new school to their properties.  After much discussion, it was decided that the architect, Harriman Associates, would research pricing on a fence that would run along the perimeter of the property.  Also quoted would be pricing on trees and/or shrubs to help buffer the noise and view of the new school.

October 18, 2012 – The official groundbreaking ceremony was held for the New Wentworth School.  If you were not able to attend, check out this video with highlights from the event!

October 16, 2012 -ONE-WAY TRAFFIC CAUSING CONCERN AT WENTWORTH
The new traffic pattern through Wentworth Drive continues to cause problems for buses and students.  It is imperative that all traffic is at a complete stop when buses are loading and unloading students during their afternoon pick-ups and morning drop-offs.  It is illegal to pass a bus with yellow flashing lights.  Vehicles are not adhering to this law.  Scarborough school bus drivers have been advised by the Scarborough Police to share license plate numbers of those violating this law.  Please pass along this very important safety issue to those who frequent Wentworth Drive.
